Heavens' Door
Lord, I don't want a mansion
long for silver or for gold ~
it means far more to me, dear Lord
I'll have your hand to hold.
How I long to be with you
place my head upon your knee ~
feel your hand brush back my hair
your arms encircle me.
You've shared my every teardrop
my pain and agony ~
how lonely Lord, you must have been
there in Gethsemane.
I ask you Lord, to test me
and you knew just what to do ~
now a still small voice is whispering
what do I mean to you.
How much have the things of man
come to mean to you ~
will you freely give them up
as I did for you.
I gave up my Father's throne
to live a life of pain ~
that I might be a pathway
for those who trust my name.
How long will you waver child
between right and wrong ~
don't you see my precious child
you haven't got that long.
I'm standing here with open arms
here at heaven's door ~
asking you to come to me
what are you waiting for.
