River of Life

Tonight, as I studied the Scriptures
with a clarity missing before ~
each word like a flower seemed to open
a gateway straight to the Master's door.

Of what could John be speaking
but the Bible, I held in my hand ~
his words seemed suddenly simple enough
for a child to understand.

In the middle of the Bible
between the Old and the New ~
stands the Tree of Life
the Savior spreading open arms to you.

There were twelve fruits, His disciples
teaching others His loving ways ~
as each new leaf unfolds to share His word
nations are healed within a day.

At baptism we are promised
our lives begin anew ~
it's a promise to place your faith in
the Lamb of God died that it might come true.

Surrender all to love and duty
let His mission fill your life ~
and let mirrors reflect the Savior
in each aspect of your life.

In the precious light of the Master
no darkness need we fear ~
just listen you'll hear His promise
"fear not, child I AM here."

He's returning to gather His chosen
to wipe away each tear~
He is coming,Child are you ready
for the gathering time is near.
