The Tie That Binds

The Tie That Binds

Theres a garden on the hillside,
Cooling shadows fall beneath graceful olive trees.
Respite to the weary is the oil of life,
It's sweet perfume a healing balm
Flowing from their sheltering leaves.

Within their protective branches,
Sparrows are heard calling plaintively.
Their song tells an age old story,
Of a gentle man there on his knees.

Sown among the wildflowers blooming so carefree,
Tares of deceit and beauty grow side by side.
Beneath those ancient trees,
And subtly divide the world of those who believe.

Moonlight streams from heaven,
To illuminates a gentle face.
Bathing him in it's warm glow,
He craves the comfort found it's its embrace.

Look closely as the teardrops,
Trickle slowly down his cheeks.
Teardrops that are tinged with blood,
His sorrow is that deep.

His gaze turns to his disciples,
Below him on the mountainside.
A blanket of temptation has enfolded them,
Disappointment is reflected in his eyes.

Suddenly a chilling wind begins to blow,
Leaves fall to dust the frigid ground.
Time is at hand, the winds will separate him ~

for a time,

From those to whom his life is bound.

He bows his head and humbly
folds his healing hands in prayer,
Pleading for the courage
his sacrifice, the strength to bear.

His gentle heart is breaking ~
Don't presume that is the end,
For at it's depths resurrected ~
The tie that binds is born again.
